The American e-reader market oversaturated itself with locked down Kindle Fires, Nooks and Kobos (read our reviews of the Fire HDX, Kobo Aura HD, and Kobo Arc). For inexplicable reasons, major manufacturers hobbled their wares with barriers. Innovative features were ignored, or hidden, such as 8-inch E-Ink screens or access to vanilla Android.
